Compaq Presario A933TU Notebook Review with WinXP Drivers
Extra Features of A933TU compared to C773TU:
1) Monitor:
A933TU has 17" Widescreen monitor whereas C773TU has 15.4" Widescreen. So you would be paying the major part of the extra Rs.5000 for this. A933TU weighs 3.1kg whereas C773TU weighs 2.59kg. This extra 600 Grams weight would decrease the portability of the notebook.
2) Maximum RAM:
Though A933TU comes with 2GB RAM, it can support up to 4GB of RAM whereas in C773TU, you can’t have more than 2GB RAM even if you want to. And multimedia applications are RAM hungry and would require more than 2GB.
3) Operating System:
A933TU comes with Pre-Installed Microsoft Windows Vista Home – Basic whereas C773TU comes with FreeDOS. It’s left to you to decide whether it’s an advantage or a liability to have Vista!
One more difference is there in WLAN chip. A933TU has Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection whereas C773TU has 802.11b/g WLAN(Atheros). I'm not sure what difference it'd make.
Other than the above 3 differences, A933TU is same as C773TU. I personally think that it’s not a good idea to buy a notebook (laptop) for multimedia purposes. I would have considering buying a desktop rather than notebook if I want it for multimedia.
If you are very particular about 17" monitor, then you can go for this. Otherwise C773TU would be a good choice.

Intel Chipset Device Software: Install the Intel Chipset Device software from the Intel website. You can download it from here: Intel Chipset Device Software Install the second one in that list with the title "INF Update Utility - Primarily for Intel® 3, 900 Series Chipsets (2347KB)"
- WLAN driver for A933TU can be downloaded from the Intel web site at the following link: WLAN driver for A933TU.
- NIC driver for A933TU can be downloaded from the Realtek web site at the following link: NIC driver for A933TU.
- Graphics driver for A933TU can be downloaded from the Intel web site at the following link: Intel Graphics Driver for A933TU.

I have a prob?
I am purchasing A933TU in a couple of days.
I ask my retailer to install XP (instead of VISTA).
I asked do you have drivers for XP?
he said, yes but there will be some sound errors.
so i download the drivers in the page

I make a copy in my pendrive and gave to the retailer.
he just look around the drivers and
tried to open by double clicking on it.I am shocked that it DISPLAYS AN
WINDOWS ERROR MESSAGE.
retailer said this not the right drivers for this model.
(The retailer was using Xp configuired Pc to view my files in pendrive)
why this happens?

Laksh, These are the right set of drivers A933TU.
Only one thing I had not put here was Intel Chipset Device software. Now I added it. Before installing any other drivers, Intel Chipset driver has to be installed.
I dont think your reseller has checked it properly.

i purchased A933tu model laptop yesterday.
i somehow manage to get sound from speakers.
but sound is always playing in my altec lansing speakers.
i dont want to take any risks in sound.
My new problem is WI-FI.

which one to choose from.i need the installation instructions also.
I downloaded 1 and 2 installed
in my lap.
It displays "No hardware device found" and ask me to get support from net.when i click yes it lead me to same (above)Intel site.
I get XP drivers from my retailer.
would u like to evaluate them?
if yes how do i post on the net?

Well i have installed win xp on my a933TU model and it is working fine for me.
Only modem is not working which I will take care of later....
All my other devices like Wi-fi ,LAN ,Web Cam etc are working like charm as previously on Windows Vista.
Hey but every thing is at least 3 times faster .
I do have posted some screeshots on my blog too..regarding my soft wares and all the successful drivers installation.

I installed all the drivers on compaq presario a933tu laptop in win xp prof. audio is also installed as per your instruction to download from http://hapapism.blogspot.com/2008/04/installation-of-windows-xp-on-compaq.html . i got the audio symbal and also audio controls but there is no sound is comming from sepakers. i can increase or decrease sound but when there is no sound comes from speakers. can you help me out?

I installed xp in a933tu.I followed all instructions .Everything is working fine.
I have three doubts to be cleared.THis model can suppport resolution up to 1400x900 i suppose.How to set it.
2)The web cam is not installed properly.How to do that.
3)The audio icon is not getting displayed in the status bar .How to rectify it.

Dude i got all the drivers for my comaq presario A933TU except the sound driver,did wht u said but after installing Realtek HD audio
no window pops up
