Compaq Presario C773TU and Dell Inspiron 1525 Review
This article gives a comparative review of entry level Core2 Duo processor notebooks, Compaq Presario C773TU and its equivalent model in Dell, Inspiron 1525. Both of these notebooks have almost same hardware and feature set. But there are major differences in three major areas: Price, Memory (RAM), and Operating System. Lets look at these factors:
Price:
As per the Compaq website, the indicative base price for Compaq Presario C773TU is Rs. 35,990 excluding taxes and levies.
Dell Inspiron 1525 is priced at Rs. 33,900 excluding taxes and levies.
Dell Inspiron 1525 looks cheaper here. But life is not simple when it comes to buying electronic gadgets. In fact, manufactures deliberately make it complicated to earn money by fooling and confusing customers.
Operating System:
This is where the first major difference other than the price comes up. Compaq Presario C773TU comes with Pre-Installed FreeDOS whereas Dell Inspiron 1525 comes with Pre-Installed Windows Vista® Home Basic. You have no choice of other OS or “No OS” here. You must buy Vista if you are buying Dell Inspiron 1525. In effect, Dell forces Vista on the customer. So Compaq Presario C773TU is better from this aspect.
Memory (RAM):
Compaq Presario C773TU comes with 2GB RAM. But Dell Inspiron 1525 comes with just 1GB RAM. If you want to install 1 more GB of RAM to Inspiron, it’d cost you extra Rs.2000+. Because of this, Compaq Presario C773TU is cheaper and offers more value for money compared to Inspiron.
Considering the above 3 points, Compaq Presario C773TU is cheaper compared with Dell Inspiron 1525.
Dell Inspiron 1525 has Bluetooth support whereas Compaq Presario C773TU doesn’t. But you can get external USB Bluetooth Adapter at around Rs.200.
Both Dell Inspiron 1525 and Compaq Presario C773TU have same processor and chipset; Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T5550. Chipset is Intel® 965GM Chipset.
Both Dell Inspiron 1525 and Compaq Presario C773TU come with 160 GB of SATA hard drive.
When it comes to looks and colors, Dell fares better. Compaq Presario C773TU offers a single color, grayish black. But Dell Inspiron 1525 offers many catchy colors and also Dell notebooks possess better looks than Compaq notebooks.

This was really clean and clear comparison I have ever read. How beautifully it has been defined as Compaq presario the best choice. But shouldn't we also consider after effects of buying compaq presario notebooks. As for layman I think it matters a lot but for techy one will be able to do something to get its machine running and would not even say anything but to get the things rolling. But all that matters is for layman whos there just to enjoy or simple use the machine for its daily jobs..... Kindly give it a think time....
Hmm, Yea its a good one but there was no mention of battery life.
