Dell Inspiron1525 comes in two models. One is priced at Rs.35,900 whereas the other is priced at Rs.42,900. So Rs.7000 difference! Lets figure out whether its worth to shell out extra Rs. 7000 or not. Generally people tend to believe that more expensive a product is, the better the product is. When it comes to Electronic Gadgets, it’s not true. The technology for which you are paying the extra cost maybe useless for your purposes like in this case(when compared with XPS series). Differences between Inspiron 1525(Rs.35,900) and Inspiron 1525(Rs. 42,900):
| Dell Inspiron | 1525(Rs.35,900) | 1525(Rs. 42,900) |
| Processor: | T5550 | T7250 |
| Operating System: | MS Vista Home - Basic | Vista Home - Premium |
| Memory (RAM): | 2GB | 3GB |
| Hard Drive: | 160GB | 250GB |
Other than these above four differences, rest everything including Chipset and Monitor is same for both.
Processor - T550 Vs. T7250:
Compared to T5550 processor, T7250 has these extra features:
- Clock Speed and FSB(Front Side Bus): T7250 has 2 GHz clock and T5550 has 1.83 GHz clock. T7250 has 800 MHz FSB speed whereas T5550 has 667 MHz FSB speed. This combination does make some difference. As per Intel, replacement of 667MHz FSB with 800MHz FSB brings in dramatic changes in the overall speed of the processor. The benchmarks are as below:
| Floating-point Processing Benchmark: | 27% Improvement |
| Integer Benchmark: | 24% Improvement |
| 3D processing benchmark (3D Mark): | x 2.33 |
Because of the increased FSB, this Notebook PC can be used even for load-intensive applications. - Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT): This technology is not much useful for home users. It's useful only if you are using Virtual Machine(VM) like in Labs, offices..etc.
Memory/Hard Disk: Extra 1 GB RAM and 90GB extra hard disk compared to Rs.35.900 one.
Inspiron 1525(Rs. 42,900) is a high performance notebook PC. This notebook is much better and cheaper than the XPS series notebooks(XPS M1530 and XPS M1330). Even Compaq Presario does not have any notebook(for home users) which can match the performance of this notebook.

According to Intel, both the T5750 and the T7250 have Intel VT. The T5550 does not. Virtualization is not worthless to the home user, it's just so new that most people don't understand its benefit. One application would be to install a 64bit OS as the host and have a virtual 32bit machine that could run all your non-64bit apps.
Nope, T5750 doesn't have Intel® Virtualization Technology(Intel® VT). In T5xxx series, T5600 is the only processor which has Intel® VT. It can be verified in Intel website.
Considering your poin ton the FSB for the Core2 Duo Mobile processor, you should also take into cosideration the RAM specifications. If i am not mistaken Dell Inspiron ships with DDR2 667 RAM which corresponds to the FSB for the T5750. Unless you get RAM with similar DDR2 800 to complement the T7250 800 Mhz FSB i don't thing it will make as much of a difference as reported.
According to Intel the T5750 does have VT.
